Pizza doesn’t have to be the unhealthiest thing on the planet (especially if you go with a thin crust and about half the cheese). But when it comes to toppings, what are the healthiest choices?
Broccoli
Broccoli has a ton of nutrients and is a great choice for a pizza topping. Especially if you’re doing a white pie, broccoli can also be a great flavor-booster.
Garlic
Garlic is a great, healthy topping you should jump on if your local pizza place offers it. Garlic helps cut down on cholesterol and has lots of healthy fats in it.
Red Peppers
Red peppers offer a good dose of Vitamin C and A as well as B6. However, green and yellow peppers are also healthy additions as well, so it’s a good idea to put as many peppers on there as possible.
Spinach
Also a good addition to a white pizza, spinach is great on a regular, red sauce pie as well. It is full of iron, which is important for your cardiovascular system.
Pineapple
If you’re going to choose any fruit to put on your pizza, we recommend this one. It has lots of Vitamin C and can help aid in your digestive process.
…And for the Meat?
If you absolutely have to have some meat on your pizza, go with chicken or prosciutto if you have the option. But if you can, stick with mushrooms: they’ll give you a meaty taste without the extra calories.
